Carotid petrous segment aneurysm presenting as hypoglossal nerve palsy
Carotid petrous segment aneurysm presenting as hypoglossal nerve palsy: AbstractAneurysm in the petrous segment of the internal carotid artery is extremely rare, and symptoms are usually derived from compression of neighbor structures such as nerve palsies. Clinical symptoms can be nonspecific and imaging findings are complex, making the diagnosis of this kind of aneurysms extremely challenging. CT angiography is the best diagnostic tool, and treatment options include surgical and endovascular approaches,...

Intranasal Tofacitinib on Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps...Η τοφασιτινίμπη (tofacitinib) είναι ένας ισχυρός, εκλεκτικός αναστολέας της οικογένειας JAK.
Therapeutic Effects of Intranasal Tofacitinib on Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps in Mice: ObjectivesThe Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK–STAT) pathway play a key role in immune modulation, especially in the polarization of T helper cells. Oxaliplatin-Induced Thrombotic Microangiopathy
Oxaliplatin-Induced Thrombotic Microangiopathy in a Patient with Stage IV Gallbladder Carcinoma: Primary Association or Multiple Hits?: Thrombotic microangiopathies (TMA) include a variety of vascular disorders characterized by the presence of microthrombi, coagulopathy by platelet activation and consumption, and systemic damage. The most frequent secondary causes are infections and some medications. However, the presence of chemotherapeutic agents is not so common, and the induction of TMA by oxaliplatin...

Frameless Stereotactic Brain Biopsy
Comparing Fiducial-Based and Intraoperative Computed Tomography-Based Registration for Frameless Stereotactic Brain Biopsy: Objective: The aim of this work was to compare fiducial-based and intraoperative computed tomography (iCT)-based registration for frameless stereotactic brain biopsy. Methods: Of 50 frameless stereotactic biopsies with the VarioGuide, 30 cases were registered as iCT based and 20 as fiducial based. Statistical analysis of the target registration error (TRE), dose length product,...

COVID‐19 and immunological dysregulation: can autoantibodies be useful?
COVID‐19 and immunological dysregulation: can autoantibodies be useful?: AbstractCoronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) is often associated with interstitial pneumonia. However, there is insufficient knowledge on the presence of autoimmune serological markers in patients with COVID‐19. We analyzed the presence and role of autoantibodies in patients with COVID‐19‐associated pneumonia. We prospectively studied 33 consecutive patients with COVID‐19, 31 (94%) of whom had interstitial pneumonia, and 25 age‐...

COVID‐19 and venous thromboembolism
COVID‐19 and venous thromboembolism in intensive care or medical ward: AbstractDespite thromboprophylaxis, patients with coronavirus‐19 disease (COVID‐19) exhibit hypercoagulability and higher venous thromboembolic risk, although its real incidence is still unknown. The aim of the study was to evaluate the incidence of venous thromboembolism in COVID‐19 patients admitted to both intensive care unit and medical ward. Consecutive patients admitted for COVID‐19 to medical ward and intensive care unit...

Restraint stress abates the antioxidant potential of melatonin on dimethyl benz (a) anthracene (DMBA) induced carcinogenesis
Restraint stress abates the antioxidant potential of melatonin on dimethyl benz (a) anthracene (DMBA) induced carcinogenesis: AbstractFree radical involvement in initiation, promotion and progression of carcinogenesis, implicates that scavengers of free radicals may act as inhibitors in the carcinogenic process. Melatonin, an antioxidant was used in the present study to evaluate its effectiveness on skin carcinogenesis induced by DMBA both with and without chronic restraint stress (CRS). Fifty Swiss...
